A New Era for Digital Journalism: PDMF and Cepal & Co. Sign Landmark Legal Support Agreement
A landmark partnership to equip Pakistan’s digital media professionals with legal knowledge, rights awareness, and content compliance tools.
Pakistan Digital Media Forum and Cepal & Co. sign a landmark MoU to provide legal support, awareness, and training to digital media professionals.
KARACHI: In a bold and visionary move to strengthen Pakistan’s digital media landscape, the Pakistan Digital Media Forum (PDMF) and the esteemed law firm Cepal & Co. have signed a groundbreaking Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Karachi. This strategic partnership aims to equip content creators, journalists, freelancers, and digital entrepreneurs with critical legal knowledge, tools, and protections needed to thrive in today’s fast-evolving digital age.
The MoU was officially signed by Rehan Hyder, Deputy Secretary and Head of Training & Development at PDMF, and Hafsa Khalid, Associate at Cepal & Co., in the presence of Kamran Talib Chouhan, President of PDMF, and Rashid Mureed, Managing Partner at Cepal & Co., who also witnessed the ceremony.
This landmark agreement unlocks a wave of collaborative initiatives—legal awareness campaigns, compliance support for digital content, expert-led seminars, and hands-on training workshops—designed to empower Pakistan’s growing community of digital storytellers and media professionals.
“This partnership is a game-changer,” said Kamran Talib Chouhan, President of PDMF. “Pakistan’s digital laws are still developing, and many professionals are unaware of their rights and responsibilities under regulations like the PECA Act. We’re now stepping forward to fill that gap with education, advocacy, and legal protection.”
Key Highlights of the MoU:
- Legal Consultations for digital creators and journalists
- Content Compliance Reviews for trainings, videos, and workshops
- Expert Legal Speakers for awareness events and dialogues
- Guidance on Digital Policies, privacy frameworks, licensing laws, and intellectual property rights
- Policy Briefs and Legal Toolkits for the media industry
Cepal & Co., known for its expertise in cyber laws, digital policy, and intellectual property, will lead the legal front. Their seasoned lawyers will assist PDMF in ensuring that digital professionals across Pakistan are operating with legal confidence—not confusion.
“We believe in building a digital ecosystem that is both free and fair,” said Rashid Mureed, Managing Partner at Cepal & Co. “This collaboration with PDMF reflects our shared commitment to protect, empower, and legally equip the digital media community—whether they’re running a YouTube channel, managing a podcast, producing news content, or growing a social media brand.”
A New Chapter in Digital Media Advocacy
PDMF, Pakistan’s leading forum for digital media professionals, is now set to roll out a series of high-impact events and legal literacy programs in partnership with Cepal & Co., involving press clubs, journalist unions, universities, and digital communities nationwide.
This collaboration is more than a formality—it’s a mission to create an informed, ethical, and legally sound digital media culture in Pakistan.
As Pakistan’s digital economy surges, this alliance between law and media is a timely reminder: digital innovation must go hand-in-hand with legal awareness and responsible content creation.
